A new update for Xperia SP (C5302; M35h/C5303/C5306), Xperia T (LT30p only) and Xperia V (LT25i) has been certified on PTCRB. Xperia SP has a certified number of 12.1.A.1.192, and the Xperia T/V has a certified number of 9.2.A.1.199. This could be a major bug-fixing update from the latest original Android 4.3 firmware (Xperia SP: 12.1.A.0.266, Xperia T/V: 9.2.A.0.295) and not the Android 4.4. We'll let you know as soon as the update goes live.

With Sony MWC press conference is coming in a few hours, some details of the Sony D5103 (probably Xperia G) has been leaked by GFXBench. Sony (Mobile) has uploaded a new teaser video to its YouTube channel. The video is only 16 seconds long and shows that "Something extraordinary is coming" and shows the MWC date with a hashtag that reads #XperiaDetails. Sony hasn't confirm the KitKat update time frame for Xperia Z series of handsets, but Vodafone Australia has confirmed that the testing of the 4.4 software for Xperia Z has been scheduled. Check if your Xperia Z1 Compact uses a JDI/AUO panel

There is a small poll on XDA forum asking whether their Z1 Compact uses a JDI or AUO panel. Well, if you already own the Z1C then you can contribute in this poll. Well how do I check what display panel my Z1 Compact using? Just install an app called "Terminal Emulator" from Google Play (or you can go there using file manager) and then enter this two-bar code:

"cd /sys/devices/mdss_dsi_panel

cat panel_id"

Then you should get a result like this (taken from first post's attachment):

There are some members saying that he's got a device that made of AUO display panel, but they hasn't got any problems on their device. As you may know JDI panel has a better viewing angles and much brighter produced colors, rather that AUO displays which has not-really-superb viewing angles and darker colors. You may want to check the comparison between both panels (via XperiaBlog) here.

Sony revised the Xperia Z1 Compact white paper; fixed that back plate problem

You may remember our report saying that the Xperia Z1 Compact's back plate is made of plastic, not glass. Well Sony has confirmed that thing via revision in the Xperia Z1 Compact's white paper (both D5503 and M51w white papers has been updated in February 17, 2014).

"The front side of the phone is made of durable tempered glass, and the back side of the phone is made of high-rigid plastic sheet, reflecting the world around you..."

Sony Xperia Tablet Z2: Press pics and more details leaked

Just yesterday we told you about the Sony Xperia Tablet Z successor, called Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 (but we're not sure it will be called like that), or codenamed Sony Castor. Now we have another news for you if you're waiting this Xperia tablet. A new leaker account @gadgetleaks has leak out this new Sony Xperia Tablet Z2. The person behind this account has confirmed that the yesterday's leak was correct, he even add some details in the tweet.

Lengthy Xperia Z2/D6503 video review out in the internet

The review video of the Xperia Z2 or Sony D6503 has been uploaded by a YouTube user Rimas Flyil. The duration is at a lengthy 12 minutes and shows some native Xperia features that will be included in the KitKat, like What's New, new Sony live wallpaper, new start-up screen, and more. The phone displayed in this video has a slimmer bezel too, and reserves a better viewing angle from older Xperia flagships. Also seen 15 megapixel camera and 4K video support too.

"Xperia Tablet Z2" (Castor?) specs leak out

Sony is about to launch its Xperia Z2 (or whatever it may called, we're not sure it will be called like that) at MWC 2014, which will be live in one week. However @evleaks has leak the specifications of the tablet version of the Xperia Z2, which was formally known as Sony Castor.

More details on the "Sony Xperia G"

Earlier today ViziLeaks has leaking an information of a phone called "Sony Xperia G". Now, the same leaker has leaking the information of the Xperia G again, but with a little more details.

According to the leaker, the phone will support an LTE connectivity, 4.8" screen (the tweet doesn't say the resolution of the display), 8GB internal memory and microSD card expansion slot, 1GB RAM and no water resistance rating, so some of our guesses from the previous post was wrong. There's a chance of the phone to feature an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on-board (or maybe KitKat?!).

Sony Xperia G leaked

Another leak for today. @ViziLeaks has something to show to us, presenting the new 'Sony Xperia G'. The device sits on the bottom, the top is Xperia Z1 to our eye. As you can see, this 'Xperia G' has a smaller size to the Xperia Z1 and a slightly 'longer' shutter button to our eye.

Well, this could be a direct competitor to the existing phone Motorola Moto G. As you know, Moto G is an "exceptional phone at an exceptional price". It has some nice offerings like 5 megapixel camera, 4.5" 720p display, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (upgradeable to 4.4), and customizable back cover.

If it's the direct competitor of the Moto G, then it must do the great offerings to attract the consumers to buy the phone. We would assume a 4.5-4.6" display, around 5 megapixel of camera and Android 4.3 on-board. A few days ago GFXBench, a benchmarking site, has revealed the details of D5103 (it's maybe the same phone).

Sony Sirius (Xperia Z2) back cover listed on a Japanese retailer

One of the Japanese spaerpart retailer Moumantai has listed the new Xperia Z2 (Sirius) genuine back cover. The back cover is in black colour and the seller (or maybe the seller is Moumantai itself) says that the double-sided tape has included in the back cover. Not sure what material is used in the back cover. It is priced at about $40 (4,000 Yen), but the stock of the item was empty. Looks like a Z1 back cover, or maybe those two backplate design is same.

Sony Sirius leaked: live pics are here

Someone who has joined Digi-wo has posted a new picture showing what he calls a Sony Sirius, or Sony D6503 for long. As you can see the bezels are thinner than Sony's previous flagships. The picture reveals that Sony Sirius is coming in black and white too, maybe more colour will come. Oh, and he says that there will be no longer Sony logo baked into the screen protector. There are two pictures published, one showing black and white versions of Sirius, and the another showing its size against the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z. Enjoy the pictures below.

Xperia T/TX/V Android 4.3 update is now live

If you haven't heard it yet, after Xperia SP, the Xperia T (and TX) and V are also receiving its new Android 4.3 update with build number 9.2.A.0.295.

The update, according to the changelog, brings the updated system apps, Sony media services with the integration with Sony Entertainment Network cloud service integration, "Xperia Themes" which brings themes that you can apply and add with Sony Select, a section called "Xperia in Business" and a refined STAMINA Mode for a longer battery life. It should bring bug fixes from the previous firmware too. However no mention on Sony Smart Social Camera add-on, although it is included and can be downloaded via the '+ Add' button.

Sony Sirius KitKat UI leaked

This time we have a video showing the Sony KitKat UI for Xperia Z2 or maybe another new Sony phone(s). The UI, as showcased, has a new lock screen (from "Swipe up or down to unlock" in Jelly Bean UI to "Swipe to unlock" in KitKat), a new Sony wallpaper that responds every touch from the home screen, a new Walkman controller in lock screen, new Xperia themes, and some new Sony Smart Social Camera add-on. Keep in mind that this is a testing firmware, so things showed in the video might look a bit un-smooth.

Xperia SP 4.3 update is finally rolled out

Yes, it's here. Finally Xperia SP users can enjoy the new Android 4.3 that's just rolled out a few hours ago with build number 12.1.A.0.266. The new firmware will bring UI optimizements from Android 4.3, white background theme, new Sony Smart Camera apps (not pre-installed), new Xperia home launcher with downloadable themes via Xperia Themes, as well as new Sony Media apps and new app versions, and it should bring bug-fixing from previous build too.

Does the Xperia Z1 Compact's rear plate doesn't made of glass?

If you are an Xperia Z1 Compact user, please feel your phone's back panel and check if it was made from glass or plastic? Well, we are asking this because Sony has update its product white paper and product page for Xperia Z1 Compact to explain that only the front side of the phone is made from glass.

New firmware update hits Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z

A new firmware update has been rolled out for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z with build number 10.4.1.B.0.101 (still Android 4.3).
