Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z gets KitKat update

After receiving the 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the Xperia Z series of handsets are now treated with the KitKat update (10.5.A.0.230). The update brings some new features, revamped user interface as well as bug fixes and performance improvements.

So what's new? Here's what can you get with this update:
- The Android 4.4 KitKat itself.
- New boot animation and live wallpaper as seen in PlayStation 4.
- Improved messaging, email, Smart Social Camera and Battery STAMINA Mode.
- Sony Media Apps with deeper Sony Entertainment Network service integration.
- Compatibility with SmartBand and Lifelog app.

As usual, the timing and availability may vary by country or carrier, so fire up Sony PC Companion or Sony Update Service to see if you get the update. Sony has also confirmed that the KitKat firmware for Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 (single and dual-SIM versions) will be rolled out in July.
